Welcome to Riverside Massage Tavistock

Hi, I’m Sarah - welcome to Riverside Massage.

I am passionate about the power of massage and its ability to make a difference to your life, both physically and emotionally.

I love cycling, walking and generally any activity which involves being outdoors. I’ve also worked in jobs which have involved long periods of concentrated time at a desk so know from experience that whatever your lifestyle and interests, bodies get tight and painful!

I am a JING trained Advanced Clinical Massage Therapist (ACMT) and have also trained with the Exeter School of Bodywork. I am qualified in Pregnancy Massage, Hot Stones Massage, TMJ (Temporomandibular joint) work, Fascial Bodywork, Sports Taping and Rejuvenating Lift and Sculp Face Massage. I am committed to ongoing learning in the field of Bodywork. Your treatment with me will generally include a combination of myofascial techniques, hot stones (optional), trigger point work, soft tissue release, and therapeutic stretching techniques – all incorporated within a deep tissue massage that is both clinically effective and truly relaxing.

When we start working together, we will talk about your reason for seeking treatment, thoroughly explore any pain you are in and most importantly, what you hope to achieve from our sessions.

Your treatment will be based on what you have told me. I will also give you self-care exercises to help keep the areas treated in the best condition between sessions.

Whether you are seeking relief from specific chronic pain, maintaining overall musculoskeletal wellbeing or treating yourself to a one-off relaxation massage, I want you to feel that the treatment room is a safe space where you will be listened to and treated respectfully.

I look forward to meeting you and treating you!

Sarah

What to expect…

When you first book a treatment with me I like to email you a short form to complete and send back. This has questions about your medical history, any areas of pain you have and most importantly what you hope to gain from having a massage.

This forms the basis of the face to face discussion and assessment at the start of your first treatment. The length of this conversation will depend on what kind of treatment you are seeking but it’s best to allow an extra 15 to 20 minutes for your first visit.

All personal information about you will be stored securely in accordance with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). Your comfort, dignity and sense of personal safety is of utmost importance to me. You can expect to be listened to, heard, and treated with professionalism and care. I will talk to you about what to expect before we start. You will be draped throughout the treatment; the only exposed area will be that which I am treating at the time.

The products I use are 100% natural, however, please don’t forget to mention anything that irritates your skin beforehand so that I can treat you safely. I also have Vegan products if you follow a plant based life.

Absolutely amazing

The environment Sarah created was so relaxing, it was just what I needed.

After recently being pregnant and giving birth my lower back has been in so much discomfort. Sarah listened to this and gave me a treatment that was suited to what I had explained my needs where. After just one session I felt less pain in my hips and when holding my son I noticed the ache in my lower back was much less.

Lastly I cannot forget to mention the hot stones.. such a pleasant experience.

I am so thankful for this service and I look forward to seeing Sarah again soon.

I’m floating on air

Good advice on muscle sprain/pain and a great hot stone massage. I’m floating on air for the rest of the day.

Supportive

I had approached Sarah as had been working and studying which created lots of tension and pain across my shoulders and back. She was able to discuss with me my perception on what had caused it, offered supportive self-management and then performed her magic! With a myofascial release and deep tissue massage my body felt revived! Thank you for your ongoing treatment and I look forward to the next one!

Lots of advice

I do suffer from some shoulder ache / pain, mainly posture related and I thought a massage may ease out some of the knots. I have to say that Sarah didn't only ease out the knots she managed to drastically reduce anymore pain developing. She gave me lots of advice and some exercises to do at home to help stop my tension / pain build up again and I found that I was more aware of my posture.

One example that my shoulder pain / stiffness had reduced is that when driving to work I come up to a junction where I have to look right for traffic. Because of the bend in the road I can't just turn my head I have to turn my upper body to be able to view the road clearly and it's quite painful. I couldn't believe the morning when I noticed I could turn my head easily without stiffness or pain and without having to turn my upper body and could clearly see the road. I have really enjoyed the sessions and will be keeping up a regular maintenance session to keep me on track.
